Customer Reviews

overall this does what it supposed to. if you already have a bunch of Makita Li-Ion tools then its a great addition.
robust suction for a cordless and superior 20min battery life with the 3AH batteries.
I dinged Makita a couple stars on this a single for the following factors...
1. For a piece of plastic with a small motor and fan inside, $99 is a bit pricey.
two. The on off switch is a momentary switch that has to stay held to operate. there is no continuous on switch position or lock
3. they reversed the nozzle connections to make it so normal vacuum accessories don't fit with no generating the 1 1/four inch adapter that a earlier reviewer mentioned...
4 the cloth filter gets dirty true swift causing loss of suction. a pleated paper filter would have probably worked superior and much easier to blow clean with a compressed air nozzle.... The black and decker cordless vac I have also has a twist function to clean the dust off the filter with out getting to eliminate it

Ok I have to ask why people are acquiring this for vacuuming couches and kitchen floors and crap like that... this is created for portability and for many people who currently have the LXT technique. I'm a contractor and do a lot of maintenance and repair work and painting and this is an critical tool to have in the arsenal. I have been thinking about having a dust buster for a lengthy time but by no means wanted yet another charger to carry around. Enter the LXT cordless vacuum.... predicament solved. This is NOT a shop vac! it really is not developed to suck up screws and nails! it is having said that developed to be especially portable and fit in a tool bag when you want to suck up a little mess in someones house devoid of dragging out the shop vac. I was really shocked at how well the floor nozzle and extension tube worked.... I wasn't expecting considerably but was pleasantly shocked.
and come on many people... complaining about the momentary switch? it takes virtually no work to keep your finger on the trigger... its in such a position that you in fact have to perform harder NOT to press it.
The only purpose its a 4 star assessment and not 5 is just due to the value.. it is a bit high-priced, but nevertheless worth the cost for the convenience you get. It could have made use of a brush attachment but it should really be simple and easy for me to rig one particular up.

Buyer Reviews

I have owned a set of Makita tools with the LXT batteries for a couple years now and I have noticed definitely zero power loss or any other challenges. I use them rather frequently whether constructing concrete types, decks, remodels, etc. I can consider of 3 things that may possibly be happening to the batteries of those who have commented on poor overall performance or longevity (1) Occasionally, batteries can be poor from the factory (I have however to personal a milwaukee tool with the new "V" or "M" series battery that holds up past a couple of months. I have both V28 and M12, and have had ALL packs replaced) (2) It is achievable to have a bad charger which is damaging the batteries itself, or (3) Maybe the users are taking them all the way to the point of stalling and total discharge, and for that the batteries are really not created to do. It is most beneficial that once you notice the battery pack is wearing down, to grab a fresh one particular and put the discharged on the charger to cool down and refresh. Also, if the batteries are being stored for most of their life, it is ideal to preserve the charger plugged in and rotate batteries by way of it to preserve almost everything active and refreshed. Lithium batteries have computer system chips and sophisticated circuitry, allowing them to consistently be charged with out harm. Ni-Cad on the other hand are not supposed to be charged over and more than once more simply because they commonly have memory effects and lifetime charging limits. It is finest to largely, not totally, discharge a Ni-Cad prior to replacing back onto the charger. Because a customer only has ultimate manage of this final variable, it is a beneficial concept to read the owners manual and discover out what the manufacturer thinks is top operating practices. Only those who are applying the batteries and tools know how they are getting treated, and you may fairly nicely be carrying out everything perfect and not fall into this third category. Getting that my kit is from a couple years ago, and my newest battery packs (purchased just for continued use considering that I have several LXT tools) were purchased last year sometime, it is probable that the newer batteries are of a lesser good quality, and that would be unfortunate. What I can say is this I personal quite a few Dewalt tools, which I have only had to replace a couple Ni-Cad battery packs in the past 5 years. (Dewalt tools are mainly made in Mexico) I have owned Countless Milwaukee tools in which their Ni-Cads held up pretty nicely, but their Li-Ion line is absolute crap. Quite a few years ago when their tools were nonetheless produced in the US, their quality was impeccable. Their tools are now created entirely in China. (Yes, a lot of of the Makitas are also) I personal numerous Bosch as nicely, and their batteries and tools are proper up there with Makita's good quality. As far as Skil, Black and Decker, and any other less expensive or knock-off brand goes, I would personally by no means buy them. For 1, you are supporting China, and secondly you would be purchasing a tool that is undependable. Hitachi has an superb warranty, and tends to make outstanding air nailers, however I am unsure of the high quality you could find in their power tools, each corded and cordless. I hope this was valuable.

I went ahead and invested in a pair of these batteries despite the mixed critiques, figuring I'd at least get a year out of them with the warranty. So far, they've performed just fine, even on tools that are supposed to only use the BL1830. I mainly use them on the BHP454 drill (note: this is 1 of the tools that is keyed for the 1830 pack) and BTD141 impact driver when I'm not going to be utilizing them for lengthy, so the decreased runtime doesn't bother me. I also use them on the angle grinder and recip saw (soon after removing the little tab on the tools) for light function in tight spaces. I would not want them to be my only batteries, but they are a great addition to a couple of the bigger batteries if you have a few tools that can use them.
These slim packs are very handy on the drill, impact, and flashlight- the lighter weight and smaller size are noticeable, specially with the smaller (BDF/BHP452) drills. However, buyer beware when it comes to making use of them on the 'heavier' tools, as they are keyed for the larger batteries for the reason that they can draw alot more present than these smaller batteries can supply devoid of damaging the cells. So you probably should not slap one of these on your circular saw and go ripping 2x12s all day, or you'll kill the pack particularly speedily. Makita isn't trying to screw you into purchasing more batteries, they are trying to make positive you don't kill your batteries.
A different note, thinking about how quite a few complaints of defective packs there are: do not run these batteries down to absolutely nothing, and attempt not to store them totally charged. Operating them into the ground is a positive way to damage the cells, and I've read estimates of up to 20%/year capacity loss for a totally-charged pack, compared to as low as two%/year for a pack stored 40% charge.
And of course, like any cordless tool/battery acquire- shop your possibilities prior to shopping for batteries separately. I got the BHP452HW kit for only $50 additional than two batteries. That is a low-priced, quick way to have a spare drill or driver and charger for about the home, or to sell to recoup the extra cost.
I am knocking off a single star because Makita doesn't do a fine job of letting people know that these slim packs only perform on certain tools- and not pretty quite a few, either. That's been a complaint for years now, and it really is nonetheless not mentioned anywhere in their literature or webpage- even my nearby Makita dealer didn't know they weren't compatible with all LXT tools. It is not like it really is regular practice- Bosch's and Milwaukee's slim packs fit their whole lineup, AFAIK.
Update: More than 18 months later, and each my tiny packs are still kicking. I figured 1 would be toasted, it got left on my LED flashlight for probably close to a year, and I could possibly have charged it once that whole time. Surprisingly, a single of my fullsize packs died recently... it is inside a few months of the age of the mini packs, depending on regardless of whether it was an original from my kit or from a rebate. Moral becoming it would appear that battery pack failure is fairly random, absolutely not restricted to the 1.5aH batteries.

    Consumer Critiques

I researched for a pretty long time when buying a new drill/driver following my 14v Craftsman NiCad died just after a really good 8 year run (!). I personal some Dewalt, some Milwaukee and some Bosch tools. Soon after reading a ton of evaluations and looking at evaluations of specific model's predecessors I narrowed it down to the Makita. This Makita replaces one in it's line up that was very well loved. This is my initial Lithium Ion tool and so far have not been disappointed. I have employed the drill every single day driving three inch construction screws into oak supports for a carving commission I am operating on and have yet to drain the battery. Have read complaints about the chuck having a "wobble". Yes, there is a bit of a wobble visible on the keyless chuck collar but the chuck jaws themselves are straight and true. All drill bits and so on. are perfectly straight coming out of the jaws. So if you are a great deal more interested in the chuck collar being straight, you could possibly be disappointed. I for one don't care about the collar just as lengthy as all bits turn straight and true and that is not a difficulty. I was shocked at how modest the tool looks and feels having not owned a "compact" drill driver ahead of. I felt that for the price tag I really should be getting a giant operate-horse. But what you do get is a "compact" work-horse...therefore the title "Compact Drill Driver" (sorry to be so redundant). The keyless chuck has a ratcheting feature which I know is now standard, but once more is new to me. I certainly get a quite secure feel on my non-hex bits. The L.E.D light is so vibrant and focussed I in reality use it as a flash light soon after I turn off the shop lights and head back into the residence. And as a side note it has this nice tiny dimmer function that instead of just going off, it slowly dims following about 5 seconds of non-use...a straight forward and non-essential feature, but lends to it is coolness and charm. I have read lots of critiques of Lithium Ion batteries not performing nicely in cold, and to that I can not speak. I do maintain the case and extra battery in the mudroom of our residence and do bring the drill in soon after use so it never ever sits out in subzero weather. I reside in Wisconsin and we are routinely experiencing beneath freezing temps appropriate now. So, yes, I am taking some precautions as to keeping the batteries in a moderate temp....so if you maintain your tools in a truck or worksite that is subjected to freezing temps I can not offer an opinion. The case is sturdy and functional, and the charger does have a series of tiny tunes it plays when it is done charging....is it very important no, is it a bit cheesy yes, is it sort of enjoyable to run by way of the diverse tunes....confident. But, as somebody else stated, they are about as excellent as a digital watch tune. The initial charge was longer that 15 minutes, but as I was not paying consideration I can not say specifically how long. Having said that, just before I knew it the charger was playing it is tune. It was quite possibly about 1/two hour. Makita has often been an sector normal and I am especially pleased with my obtain. It has a ton of power in a smaller light weight tool. If anything alterations I will repost, but so far it has met and in some circumstances exceeded all of my expectations.

Just bought this drill/driver and because it is so new to the marketplace none of us can genuinely comment of it is longevity or wear characteristics, but based upon it's predecessor and initial impressions, it is going to do just fine. It is a little, lightweight powerhouse that does what it says it does and does it better than anything else comparable. Even with Amazons existing DeWalt promotion it matches the price tag with an arguably inferior product, no thanks. But then I have continually preferred Makita to DeWalt from construction jobs to Industrial maintenance jobs. I guess the point of this evaluation is that this Makita continues that legacy and does so nicely.
My critiques: A poorly developed but particularly well created case. (requirements even more and specific cord space and improved compartments for accesories or requirements to be smaller).
Melody selection on the charger could be at least as excellent as my daughters jewelry box.
The battery cover is weak and poorly fitting.
Other than that or perhaps in spite of that, I am quite pleased.

    Client Critiques

I gotta say this is a good little driver/ drill set, the influence drives up to 1/four" lag or 14 wood screw fairly effortlessly. I run a modest shop and produced the switch from Bosch 18V nickle metal hydride drivers to these makitas and could not be happier.....my only complaint getting the short battery life with the stock 24 Wh Li-ion batteries. This even so can be fixed by purchasing the upgraded three.0Ah Li-ion batteries, which will drive screws all day lengthy on a single charge.

Makita LCT306W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless three-Piece Combo Kit I received my Makita LCT306W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless three-Piece Combo Kit on April 11, 2011. I placed the order on Sunday and received the tools on Tuesday employing 100 % free Super Saver Shipping. The included drill was the newer model, LXFD01. Some reviewers of this drill have complained about chuck wobble in this model, but that is not a trouble with the drill that I received. I am 100% happy with the item and Amazon's service.

    Customer Reviews

Prior to getting this reconditioned set, I currently owned this kit - I purchased it new and I will quite significantly tell everyone who will listen how outstanding this drill and driver are. I've employed my set hard for two years, and they've held up actually well. I ordered one more reconditioned kit for my father in law, given that it seemed like a very good deal ($50 savings more than the perfect deal I could acquire new in any nearby retailer) and the previous positive assessment boosted my confidence. The reconditioned kit arrived promptly. The blue cloth padded case showed some put on and staining, which I don't honestly care about. I can tell the drill and driver have been completely gone over - the tools I got appear like new factory seconds - a handful of compact scuffs, but no worse than my new set looked soon after an hour of use. The batteries shipped with the kit had been a further story. MY set of batteries (purchased new) have dozens if not a handful of hundred charge cycles on them, and have taken their fair share of job internet site punishment - they look a tiny rough but they nonetheless function like new. Both batteries I received with this reconditioned kit seriously appear like they were set on a gravel street and kicked about for an hour or so. Nervous, I got on the phone to Makita appropriate away to see about sending the kit back, but right after a half hour of being on hold I just gave up. I just cannot believe that these virtually-new tools could possibly have initially shipped with such abused batteries - that level of wear would have to show. The batteries DO seem to take a charge, so who knows? Possibly they tested okay at Makita HQ. Also, the charger that came with the reconditioned kit makes a whirring noise that's noticeably louder (and far a lot more grating) than my identical charger. We'll have to wait and see if they hold up like my purchased-new set has. Bottom line, I guess it is genuinely just up to luck what they determine to send you.

The tool came as advertised even quicker than suggested. I am entirely satisfied with it and am receiving ready to construct my woodshop with it. I will be employing paint coated tin to cover the insulated wood frame. The tin will be fastened by screws with my new Makita. Boy, does it charge quick! Thanks for providing this tool at such a good buy.

    Buyer Evaluations

I did nothing but make fun of a buddy who purchased the Milwaukee 12v compact drill/driver soon after he already had a total 18v Dewalt set. That all changed when he left it at my property a single day. I soon picked up my own 12v set by Makita with the circular saw to compliment my 18V LXT set. The size is ideal for getting in your kitchen closet or someplace close if you are frequently into tiny projects like I am. It takes up pretty tiny space when tucked in the case and leaves room for extra tools too.
drill/driver- I uncover myself reaching for this significantly more typically than a typical screwdriver. The smaller size lets you be fairly precise and the light is an absolute bonus. I had no issues screwing 3" screws into 2x4's. It has plenty of torque and great battery life.
circular saw- blade spins with far more torque than sheer rpm's than I expected. My important use for this saw was cutting tons of hardwood lath frome a property rehab into shorter pieces for my wood-burner. My other use is drywall. I can cut and notch places with ease and be alot more precise than I can with a rotary-sort tool. Also worked nicely with tile backer board. The modest size and light weight come in handy. Only issue I'd like is additional rpm's but I can not certainly complain as it does what it is supposed to. Ripping sheeting when on a roof?- of course not. Getting a good all-around saw that is simple and easy to manage and replaces a hand saw?- specifically!

Item came on time and. I am really happy with the items. Makita is properly identified and normally delivers quaility merchandise.
